| Let's Talk About the Logo Design Process

If you're not careful, the following example can occur. This is the "iconic" logo for 2012 London Olympics. I want my readers to understand that this logo is not the result of the design firm; this logo is the result of the Olympic Organizing Committee.

This is what the committee proudly said about the logo:
"This is the vision at the very heart of our brand," said London 2012 organising committee chief Sebastian Coe, the former 800m and 1,500m world record holder who won gold in the 1,500 metres at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics.
"It will define the venues we build and the Games we hold, and act as a reminder of our promise to use the Olympic spirit to inspire everyone and reach out to young people around the world," he said at the London launch.
The logo choice has not faired well with critics and the public (for obvious reasons). It would be very interesting to see the rejected designs. My bet is that they are amazing, as many rejected designs tend to be.
