The "F" Pattern Discovered?
Monday, May 22, 2006
Self-proclaimed usability guru Mr. Neilsen has done it again, discovered what basic-to-intermediate web designers already know: People tend to scan web pages in an F pattern. His discovery is quite unshocking.

Web designers scan thousands of web pages monthly. We inherently design how we scan and read web pages ourselves. Additionally, there is the age-old understanding that people read from left to right, and that as a user scrolls, he or she tends to get less interested. Herein lies the basic F pattern. Web designers can only hope that Jakob's input will help web writers create better content.
